“You’re back.” The curtness in her voice made him cringe. Her back was turned to him, her hand placed firmly against the door Andrew, Dawn, and Xander had been forced into. “When?”

“When what?” he asked a small smile upon his lips, his hands shoved into his duster pockets. She turned, staring at him, her arms crossed over her chest. She looked exactly like he had left her. No nonsense Buffy. She was quiet a woman.

“Don’t play with me Spike, please. When?”

“About five months ago,” he stated, hanging his head low. “I wanted-“

“You wanted what?” she growled quickly standing in front of him, her hands balled in fists at her side. “You wanted what Spike?”

“I wanted to call you, talk to you, hear your voice,” he whispered, looking at anything but her. She was mad at him and he didn’t blame her.

“Look at me.”

Dawn pressed her ear up against the door, cringing when Buffy’s voice rose in increments. “Well, what’s happening? Is the undead getting his ass kicked because I would like to see that!” Xander stated, smiling. Dawn turned to glare at him as Andrew sat on her bed, his hands tucked between his knees as he rocked back and forth.

“I hope not. He’s looking a lot better than when I last saw him. He had his hands cut off and everything. Oh, he’s like Gandalf and Frodo all wrapped up in one.”

“Only Frodo had his finger bitten off and – hey! When did you see Spike?” Xander asked, walking over to the shorter boy with menace. Andrew gave a lop sided grin as he stood up and moved away from Xander.

“When Giles sent me to see Angel. Spike was there.”

“Why didn’t you tell anyone!” Xander yelled, fallowed by a harsh ‘shh’ from Dawn who had her ear firmly placed against the door.

Because he swore me not to! And I can’t do that! Not to the great and wise Gandalf!” Andrew squealed, running his fingers through his long blonde hair.

“Will you stop calling him that?” Xander growled.

“Will you two shut up? I’m trying to hear what’s going on.

“So what, you thought you could just come back here and we could pick up from where we left off? It doesn’t work like that Spike. I spent my months mourning for you and then I moved on.”

“Yea, right on to the next demon. Always knew you needed a little evil in your man. Always have. Got that itch didn’t you?” Spike growled, his jaw clenching as he stood in front of the slayer, eye to eye. “I wasn’t there so you had to find someone else to scratch it right?”

“I am not like that anymore. Don’t you ever say anything like that to me Spike. I stopped it. I stopped it and you were the one that took it further. You tried to rape me.” Spike half yelled, half laughed as he turned around to walk away in attempt to be dramatic. He turned and walked back up to her, shaking his finger at her.

“I thought we got passed that. You know, after I took a big chunk out of Andrew’s neck? I’m a changed man Buffy.”

“Well so am I!” she yelled.

“Really? So how’s the immortal? How’s he doing? It’s been a while since I’ve seen him. Bout a century ago, almost. Last I heard of him, he had chained Angel and I up and had shagged Darla and Dru senseless,” he growled.

“He what?” she asked, looking at him, pain sinking into her features as she realized she had fallen for the wrong guy yet again. Spike sighed, his face softening, his eyes tracing her face with sadness.

“Buffy,” he whispered, taking her into his arms and holding her.

“No. Spike. Not again. I can’t go through this again. I can’t lose you again.”

“Well, what did she say?” Andrew asked as he stared at both Dawn and Xander who had their ears placed up against the door. “Come on! Tell me!”

“Shut it dork, we’re trying to listen.”

“You know, you guys suck. I mean, just because I haven’t been here from the beginning doesn’t mean you should exclude me. I’ve done my redemption. I am no longer the evil master mind I was and I don’t make up stories any more so I think you should let me listen.” Both Dawn and Xander looked at him before bursting into giggles and returning the attention to the door. “All right, I guess I’ll just have to make room then.” He sighed before letting out a high pitch yell while running at the door, slamming into it as Xander and Dawn moved before crumbling to the floor with an Ow. Dawn and Xander only shrugged before returning to their rightful places at the door.

“You’re not going to lose me and I’m not asking you to do anything. I just wanted to see you, make sure you were ok,” he whispered, running his fingers through her blonde hair. "I haven’t seen you with hair like this since the first night we met,” he stated with a chuckle, causing Buffy to smile. Her hair had been cut and layered and instead of the warm honey golden curls he was used to was straight, wavy bright blonde much like she had when she was in high school. “Brings back some good memories.”

“Good memories?” she laughed. Suddenly, a yell was heard fallowed by a thump as someone hit the door. Both Buffy and Spike looked at the door, confused before returning to their conversation.

“Of course. Those were good days. I was in my prime back then.” Spike smiled, taking her hand in his, leading her to the couch where they both sat down, her head resting against his chest.

“If I remember correctly, I was kicking your ass every week.” Spike grinned, sucking his cheeks in as he tucked his tongue behind his teeth.

“Those were good days. I loved watching you. A favorite past time of mine. I used to spend hours, watching you fight, watching you move, watching you dance. I could’ve danced with you forever."

“I mean it! If you don’t let me listen, I’m going to do something really really really evil!” Andrew stated, glaring at them.

“You hear that Dawn! Really evil! We should run and take cover!” Xander said sarcastically before placing his ear against the door yet again. Andrew growled angrily, before grabbing Dawn, turning her towards him. Suddenly, his lips were placed firmly against hers, his hands interweaving in her hair. She stood, her eyes wide open as she stared at the closed eyes in front of her. The feeling of his tongue sweeping across her bottom lip made her tremble for some weird reason and she closed her eyes and let her brain turn off for a moment, letting his tongue slip into her mouth.

Xander stood watching in horror at the spectacle in front of him. “Buffy!” he yelled, opening the door. “Buffy!” he yelled again pointing at the two teens behind him. “They’re kissing! Kissing! Oh god!”

Andrew pulled away, letting go as he stared at Dawn who was putty in his hands. “Woa! I didn’t know I had that affect on women!” It was then that Dawn’s eyes snapped open, along with her mouth that let out a high pitched screech before she ran into the safety of her sister’s bedroom, slamming the door behind her.

Spike sat on the couch laughing as Buffy tried to keep Xander from hyperventilating. “Has this ever happened before?”

“No! Never! It should have never happened!” Xander yelled as he sat at the kitchen table, looking at Andrew as if he was the first himself.

“Buffy!” Dawn yelled as she opened the door and slammed it again. Buffy sighed, smiling at Spike.

“I’ll go check on the nibblet, you stay and help with the whelp.” Buffy nodded, a thankful smile upon her lips. “I just have one question.”

“Yea?”

“When you said you loved me, did you mean it?” Buffy stared at Xander for a while who stopped freaking out to smile at his long time friend, nodding his head. She smiled and turned and looked at Spike.

“I meant it with my whole heart. Now, go and try to calm her down. You and I can talk later.” Spike nodded, before entering the room where Dawn laid on the bed, her head buried in her pillow.

“What’s wrong nibblet?”

“Andrew kissed me!” she screeched, her voice muffled from the pillow.

“Yea and from what I saw, you were liking it, so why the freak out?” Dawn sat up, turning to look at him.

“It’s Andrew and I liked it!” she cried before she buried her face in his chest, crying. Spike only chuckled as he rubbed her back, comforting her like a father would to a daughter.
